Joe Daniels Memorial chili cook-offs

Fri, Jan 1, 2027 and Sat, Jan 2, 2027 · Glen Rose, TX · CASI-sanctioned

Our take written by Chili Times

The Dinosaur Valley RV park at 1099 Park Rd 59 in Glen Rose hosts the 6th Annual Joe Daniels Memorial chili cook-off on two consecutive days, both benefiting St. Jude's hospital. The weekend opens with a New Years Eve party at the Events Center with an Urban Cowboy theme: a kids party from 7p to 8p, then the adults from 9p, and snacks are welcome.

Friday's CASI red costs $30 with a 2p turn-in, registration from 8:30 to 11a and Chili Grind meat, plus a $10 blackeye peas contest at noon paying back 100% to three places and a camper crawl dinner at 5pm. Saturday's CASI red is also $30 with a 2p turn-in, with a $25 green verde contest at noon.
